Senior Game Designer

We are currently looking for an experienced senior game designer to join our team in Prague or Brno (we're assisting with relocation to both cities). We are looking for a person who will be enthusiastic and responsible for the development of AAA games in cooperation with world-class studios. We offer a friendly environment that will allow growth and participation in projects from the very beginning.

What does our Game Designer do?

  • Define desired player experience, then design features and systems to support it
  • Transform high-level ideas into detailed, accessible documentation and maintain this throughout a project life cycle
  • Collect feedback from colleagues and playtests, identify issues and propose most suitable solutions
  • Work closely with other disciplines within a team and partner studios and drive a project from initial design to final production
  • Help define best practices for the team

What do we need you to have

  • 5+ years industry experience, at least 1 shipped title in game design position
  • Strong creative, analytical and organization skills
  • Ability to convey ideas and concepts in a verbal and written form to other departments and teams
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for gaming: playing, deconstructing and creating
  • Strong understanding of current gaming tastes and trends
  • Ability to mentor and transfer knowledge to other designers
  • Highly organized and flexible with schedule changes and shifting priorities
  • Experience using game-specific editors (Unreal, Unity, etc.)
  • Experience with the tools used for the development of AAA games (Perforce or similar, Bugs database, etc.)
  • Friendly and cooperative personality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in English language

Nice to have

  • Knowledge and experience with C/C++ or scripting languages is a plus
  • Experience with designing single-player campaign centric games and puzzles is a plus

3D Generalist (Mid/Senior)

In our Art team located in Prague, we are currently looking for an open-minded talent who is enthusiastic about 3D art. Grip Studios portfolio consists of a variety of projects ranging from the development of in-house game titles to co-development with AAA gaming studio teams.

 

What does our 3D generalist:

  • Participate in internal and external projects.
  • Elaboration of various 3D tasks in different kinds of game development: character, and environment, props, texturing, etc.
  • Sculpt/Model, UV, texture and create materials for PBR pipeline.
  • Validate the assets in the game engine, make improvements where necessary, to fit technical constraints and artistic direction.
  • Participation in daily stand-up meetings.

What do we need you to have:

  • Professional experience working with 3D Softwares (like 3dsmax, Maya, Substance Painter & ZBrush, Blender) around 2+ years
  • Experience working on published AAA/ HD games will be a strong advantage.
  • Good understanding of proportions, architecture, modular asset creation, hard surface & organic modeling
  • Excellent knowledge of PBR workflows. (Metallic/ Roughness, Specular/ Gloss)
  • Experience in making efficient UVs with an understanding of trim, seamless, non-square, and atlas texture workflows.
  • Experience working with Game engines or real-time rendering tools. The best option is Unreal Engine.
  • English on the communication level, the minimum is B2
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating 3D game art with processes and techniques used (please send it when you will apply for the position or include a link to it in your CV)

Senior Game UX Designer

Our teams in Prague and Brno are currently looking for the right talent to join us. In our portfolio, we have different projects ranging from porting on different platforms, co-development with interesting teams from worldwide known studios, up to the development of our game titles. You will have the opportunity to work on designing unique user-focused experiences for various games.

 

 What does our UX Designer do? 

  • Develops new UX for different kinds of platforms (PC, PS, Xbox, Smartphones, and Switch).
  • Collaborates with Game Designers to create and turn the game design or goal into the best experience for the end-users - the players.
  • Comes up with creative and effective UX solutions.
  • Creates wireframes, wireflows, and interactive prototypes.
  • Produces clear documentation, easily understandable for all the project members.
  • Creates and follows style guides.

 

What do we need you to have?

  • Previous working experience in a similar role (the best area is from mobile apps), ideally 3+ years. 
  • Experience with Figma and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Ability to work with the whole game's UI. See the bigger picture, understand the impact of small changes on the whole design, and adapt the flow accordingly.
  • Experience with graphic design and typography.
  • Passion for games - we are looking for an active gamer :).
  • Communication skills across the teams (Designers and Engineers).
  • English is a must, as we are working in international environments.
  • Portfolio including your UX designs.

 

Nice to haves:

  • Education in the field of art.
  • Knowledge of any of the following: After Effects, Unreal, Adobe XD, Noesis.
